The Future of Pop: Dylan Fraser

Scottish singer-songwriter Dylan Fraser is a great representation of this new generation as his debut EP The Storm is unboxable. Released in late 2020 when he was still in his teens, The Storm is a powerful collection of songs that are layered with elements that empower the vocals whilst the lyrics talk about the dark sides of youth.

Vipers opens the EP with high-speed, danceable beats which is then followed by the calm and simplistic Face Tattoo. The title track sounds like you’re listening to a storm whilst I Do These Things For Me is to the point and in your face. Intentions is jam-packed with textures, Gucci Sweater is an acoustic heartbreak track and Losing Sleep, the EPs closing number is an anthem.

As debut EPs go, The Storm has everything, summing up this rising star who has a thumbs up from Sir Elton John and next Friday (17th September) he’s set to release his second EP, The World Isn’t Big When You Know How It Works which features the great I’d Rather Be Here, the electro sounds of Supersonic and the energetic Nightmare.

He is set to spend the rest of 2021 on tour with Holly Humberstone and Inhaler.
