New York, the city that never sleeps was alive again. Like the rest of the world, it's had a quiet 18 months but they've had a busy few days with the tennis at the weekend, MTV VMA's on Sunday then the return of fashion fundraiser, The Met Gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art last night.

The event usually takes place annually but the COVID-19 pandemic gave the fashion world a year off but they more than made up for it when it comes to the outfits, especially Lil Nas X who had 3 custom Versace looks for the Gala carpet.

Each event has a theme, this time around it 'American independence' which gave attendees, who included musicians, actors, reality stars and some top names in fashion a fair bit of freedom to be creative.

Here's some of our favourite looks (photos from Instagram).
