There was a queue around the block (of mostly teenage girls) ahead of last nights gig at The Leadmill, Sheffield. The young crowd were excited to see rising stars Dylan and headliner, Thomas Headon.
Dylan (awful name when Googling, thanks to the other one, Bob) is managed by Grumpy Old Management, along with fellow Suffolk singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran who has been dropping some impressive singles over the past couple of years.
She might be just into her 20's but her influences range from classic rock to pop which can be heard in the music that's already out there. On stage Dylan is energetic, fun and comfortable, warming up a crowd comes at ease for her, especially when she has a track like her most recent release, Someone Else, a certified banger and the forthcoming single, You're Not Harry Styles whilst, for those yet to discover her could participant with a cover of Paradise City by Guns 'n' Roses.
2021 has been a year jam-packed with talented female singer-songwriters but Thomas Headon (and Alfie) will be shining a light for the lads in 2022. He's youthful, charismatic and like Dylan, he's already proved he can pen a decent tune.
Grace is a bit like Rex Orange County whilst Butterflies is catchy, he's not the finished product but he's getting there and he knows how to work a crowd, dropping a Taylor Swift cover (We Are Never Getting Back Together) and a rendition of Blur's Song 2.
Last night was a night for the future of pop.
