Lil Nas X debut album Montero Coming out next month

Lil Nas X, The rapper who has crossed many boundaries in hip-hop is set to release Montero, his debut album on 17th September.

Lil Nas X started gaining attention with country/rap mega jam Old Town Road (originally released in December 2018) which caused controversy when it was removed from the 'country music' chart, but that didn't really matter when it went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 for a record breaking 19 weeks.

Having become a certified pop star Lil Nas X came out as gay, probably the most high profile rapper to do so and it faced criticism in the hip hop culture which is pretty homophobic. At the time, it looked like career suicide as the singles that followed Old Town Road struggled.

After a whirlwind few months Lil Nas X announced that he was to take some time out to work on his mental health. He returned this February with Montero (Call Me by Your Name) which saw the rapper reach those expectations that came with having a huge debut single. What made the move more striking was the freedom he showed when expressing his sexuality in performances and the ability to laugh off any hate.

If Call Me by Your Name proved Lil Nas X was no one hit wonder, his latest single, Industry Baby featuring Jack Harlow proved he's a star not to be messed with and we can't wait to unpack everything his debut has to offer!
